A trooper is any uniformed Connecticut State Police officer, who operates a state police vehicle and/or any other department personnel assigned to plain clothes investigative units. Troopers are responsible for proper investigation of all violation of the Connecticut General Statutes and Criminal Penal Codes, and tasked with taking appropriate actions in all police related matters.
The Connecticut State Police is the primary law enforcement provider in 82 of the 169 towns within the state of Connecticut, conducting both criminal and motor vehicle investigations. They also have Commercial Truck and Traffic Units in three districts. In addition, the agency is known for its cutting edge programs including Community Policing, Traffic Enforcement, Fire Investigations, Forensic Technology and Computer Crimes.
