The primary duties of the Public Safety Dispatcher are to assure an efficient coordinated communication service to/for the Drexel University Department of Public Safety Communications Center (DUPSCC), the University community, and local law enforcement agencies. Personnel in this position are considered “essential” in that they support a 24-hour, 7 day per week communication center operation.

Provides police protection and services to all people on the Drexel campus and throughout the larger DUPD patrol zones. Protects University property from theft, vandalism, fire, and illegal entry through proactive patrols. Responds to emergency calls and calls for service.
Enforces Local, State and Federal laws, traffic and parking regulations, and Drexel University policies. Takes all appropriate actions, including mediating disputes, arresting criminal violators, issuing citations, and making referrals to the Student Conduct Board.
Performs initial investigations of crimes, disturbances, accidents, complaints, and other matters, gathers evidence, interviews witnesses, and protects crime scenes.
Administers first aid to injured persons. Complete all necessary reports and related paperwork.
Testifies in Court and at university hearings as required. Assists in investigations, administrative assignments, and other projects as assigned. Maintains traffic and crowd control during assemblies, sporting events, and emergencies. Utilizing a community policing approach, interacts with the community and provides general assistance to those in need, establishing a sense of personal safety and promoting public trust throughout the University and surrounding community. Promotes a safe and collaborative work environment, maintains the highest ethical standards, and adheres to all DUPD and University policies. Maintains all required certifications and participates in all required training, including all State and DUPD mandated programs.
Performs other duties as assigned
