Chilled Water Plant Utilities Supervisor - Job Requisition: JR00073727

Plan, direct, or coordinate operations and functionalities of facilities and buildings. May include surrounding grounds or multiple facilities of the University's campus. Provides direct oversight for operational and maintenance decisions involving staff and contractor deployment, assigning and scheduling work, resource leveling, and overall team building among assigned workforce.   Under the direction of the Utilities Operations Manager, the Chilled Water Plant Supervisor  provides direct oversight for operational and maintenance decisions  involving multi-trade staff and contractor deployment; assign and schedule work for two campus chilled water plants totaling 50,000+ tons, operating 24 hours a day 365 day a year.  This position is responsible for efficient, reliable, and cost-effective generation and distribution of chilled water to approximately 180 campus buildings in accordance with all federal, state and local standards and regulations utilizing practices focused on energy conservation, environmental protection, sustainability, and public health. This position will work in collaboration with other department utility supervisors to ensure a comprehensive and efficient approach to the production and distribution of chilled water.  This position will oversee and implement corrective, preventative and, predictive maintenance programs for the plants’ complex utility infrastructure to meet operational needs, redundancy levels and system resiliency.   Additional duties include but are not limited to  chemical water treatment program oversight; purchasing (within established guidelines)  materials and  services to  support   operations, plant resiliency and improvement;  ensuring staff, contractors and vendors meet the plants’ operational requirements and industry standards for best practices; and supporting all initiatives for  worker  safety and environmental sustainability.   QUALIFICATIONS:   Technical/Vocational or Associates Degree or completed apprenticeship in a related field required and 7 to 10 years of HVAC and supervisory experience.  BA/BS preferred.  Significant experience in commercial/industrial HVAC and refrigeration systems, preferably in a unionized work environment, and in a large academic or similarly complex environment.    Must have demonstrated knowledge and experience of operating and maintaining large tonnage chillers (electrical/steam) on a central loop.  Must hold current refrigeration recovery (universal) certificate.  Experience using computerized maintenance management systems and Building Automation Systems (BAS) to monitor and control all aspects of the maintenance and performance of the plants. Knowledge of city/state codes and ASHRE standards.    Demonstrated ability to manage multi-skilled technical groups in a unionized environment and multiple competing demands on resources. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, supervisory, team-building, written and verbal communication, and organizational skills. Strong financial and analytical skills. Proven record of strong customer service skills.  Knowledge of basic computer software. This position will require the individual to be on call 24/7 and designated as essential personnel.   Background Check required

Responsible for maintaining cleanliness and order in the School/Center premises. Performs additional work as assigned by the immediate superior. Have a good understanding of safety and adheres to safety rules and regulations. Communicating on a regular basis with the occupants in the assigned area and provides feedback to immediate superior of any important updates related to work.   The successful candidate will be considered essential personnel and must be able to provide daily cleaning, restocking, sanitizing & disinfecting to all assigned areas.  Assigned areas can include but are not limited to- classrooms, restrooms, labs, athletic facilities, offices, student living space, kitchens, clinics, and exterior spaces which can include snow removal. This position is responsible for providing interim and restorative floor care across the campus. Must have the capability to lift and/or move equipment and supplies up to fifty (50) pounds daily.  You will be required to perform additional projects as assigned and be compliant with all safety protocols.  Must be able to communicate on a regular basis with the building occupants in your assigned area and provide feedback to your manager.  Minimum of 2 years of housekeeping experience and full availability to work any of the 3 shifts (Days, Mids, and Overnights) are required. In order to be considered the candidate is required to fully complete the application which must include all work experience.   Qualifications High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of 2 years of housekeeping experience required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to read and follow directions on products and material data safety sheets.
