Christel House Indianapolis is currently seeking a K-3rd Grade Instructional Coach.
Requirements:
Degree in education.
Indiana Teaching License
Experience working with high school level curriculum and standards.
Knowledge of secondary instructional strategies and interventions.
Ability and willingness to work collaboratively; maintaining cooperative and effective working relationships
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
Ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis

Job Tasks:
Facilitate the intellectual and professional development of teachers with a focus on improving student achievement.
Participate in the development of educational strategies.
Communicate and demonstrate research-based instructional practices that result in increased student performance.
Provide individualized, classroom-based coaching with instructional staff to support them in implementing good instructional practices (observe and meet with teachers, providing them feedback and support).
Provide support in analyzing student assessment data, meeting with teachers after assessment cycles to create an action plan).
Assist teachers with instructional decisions and specific classroom activities based on assessment data.
Assist in the creation of instructional materials that are in alignment with curriculum.
Provide resources related to instruction and curriculum.
Provide assistance in researching instructional and/or curriculum issues.
Train and update instructional staff on key instructional issues.
Observe work of instructional staff to evaluate performance and recommend changes that could strengthen teaching skills.
Assist with implementation of Standards Based Grading practices.
Manage and maintain test coordination.

Requirements:
Valid IN Teaching License
Bachelor’s degree
Competency in using technology in the classroom setting.

High School Math Teachers at Christel House have the autonomy to try innovative strategies in their classrooms to reach all types of learners. Teachers support the whole child, teaching character education and social and emotional learning strategies to students to support their development beyond academics. Teachers are supported by interventionists, instructional coaches, lead teachers, on-site social workers and counselors, and a staff that thrives on collaborating and improving within the school community.
Job Tasks:
Plan, prepare and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments that facilitate active learning.
Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use the information to adjust teaching strategies.
Demonstrate a desire for working with students from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds.
Encourage parent and community involvement, obtain information for parents when requested, conduct home visits, schedule student-led conferences, and promptly return phone calls and answer emails.
Participate in appropriate professional activities.
Ability and willingness to work collaboratively, maintaining cooperative and effective working relationships.
